"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
Matthew 28:18-20
The word “missions” captures the assignment Christ left with His churches. This is sometimes called “The Great Commission”, but unfortunately, in our churches it might also be called “The Great Omission.
The churches of Jesus Christ exist to evangelize, baptize, teach, train leaders, and establish additional churches, which will perpetually do the same. Every New Testament church should be a missionary church.
Missions begins in our neighborhood and community, but should simultaneously expand to our region and nation, and unto the uttermost parts of the world. Churches cannot be involved in only part of this duty and still be obedient to the Lord’s mandate.
We believe that the Great Commission was given to the Lord’s churches. His churches therefore are the only institution with Biblical authority to carry out the work of missions.
Mt. Zion Baptist Church has a growing missions ministry that supports missionaries and mission projects around the world. Through the Faith Promise plan of grace giving, our members give offerings each week to the cause of world evangelization.
